Christmas gifts for runners 2021

Since Black Friday is coming up, I thought now would be a good time to put out a gift guide. I did one in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, so here’s the 2021 edition. I’m sure there will be some great Black Friday deals out there and I’ll definitely do some online shopping myself (can’t have too much running gear, right?).

Oofos has 20% off their recovery sandals for Black Friday. I like them and I use them a lot during summer (I don’t use regular flip-flops anymore since those are not good for your feet). But might need to get me a pair a sliders so I can wear them with socks in winter (I get cold feet and chilblains unfortunately).

AfterShokz also has a great deal with Black Friday, namely, buy one get one free. You buy the Aeropex and you get a pair of Air for free. Great way to get a pair for yourself and for a loved one who should also have a pair of bone conduction headphones. They also have some of their other headphones on sale.

And if you are looking for a new sports watch, you might want to consider Coros as an option. I use the Apex, which is one of the older models, but they also have the Pace 2, which is a good option for a good price. Coros is especially known for its long battery life. I can easily run a marathon, or probably two actually, with one charge, no problem.

Brooks always has these cute Christmas shoes. I still have the pair from around 3 years ago, but they have a new version each year.

It obviously depends on where you live, but if you live in a colder and damper climate like I do, you might want to get yourself a pair of water-resistant/waterproof shoes. Since I’m often Running Director at my local parkrun I often spend my Saturday mornings standing around on a wet field of grass. So having a pair of water resistant shoes really helps. I have the Goretex version of the Brooks Ghost and the Nike Pegasus Shield. You can now even customise the Pegasus 38 Shield to your own liking, which is pretty cool. Nike now also has 25% off on their site for members.

And if you enjoy reading, there are also some great books about running that you could read during the holidays or could give to someone who enjoys reading and running. I’ve recently enjoyed reading How to Run a Marathon by Vassos Alexander and Coasting by Elise Downing.

And if you or that special someone in your life enjoys parkrun, they now have long sleeved shirts for those of us who live in colder climates. I ordered myself some, because I do love my parkrun t-shirt, but it’s way too cold in winter.

Note: I’m not getting paid by any of these brands/people to write this article. They are just brands that I either use myself and think other runners might find useful or items that I think would make a nice gift. That’s all.
